Este fin de semana del 1 y 2 de marzo se celebrará en la localidad pontevedresa la "Xuntanza" de escaladores del este año. Nueva zona de búlder, fisuras y placas notables, talleres y fiesta en una de las mejores zonas de Galicia.
Las actividades preparadas para esta nueva edición de la Xuntanza de Escaladores do Faro Budiño comenzarán el sábado a las 10 horas, momento en que se llevará a cabo la apertura de inscripciones en el monte Faro de Budiño. Y luego, la acción, con la apertura de dos circuitos de bloques, uno para los bloqueros experimentados y otro para los iniciados. Buenos cantos naturales en una de las mejores zonas de escalada de Galicia, que ofrece además notables fisuras y placas de adherencia para los que también carguen con la cuerda.

Y el domingo, quien sobreviva al sábado, otra vez al bloque, y los interesados a las vías, donde se realizaran actividades de autoprotección. Si además lo que te motiva no sólo se centra en la roca, la organización ofrece circuitos de bicicleta de montaña para todos los niveles. Y premios y regalos para los afortunados. Je, je!!

Trooperos.

Varias cosas antes de irme. La primera es que como veis no todo lo que sale de mi horno son ladrillos. Ultimamente el aburrimiento me hace dedicarme a la "Nouvelle cousine" y el resultado es el que veis ahí arriba. Una tarta de café. La verdad es que metí un poco la pata ya que compré un molde demasiado grande pero la coas huele bién. Los desafortunados que la pueben ya me contarán. Pa la semana ya prepararé alguna cosilla más. Por cierto. A mi no me gusta esta tarta....pero bueno, ya no me gusta casi ninguna tarta....

Por otro lado como sabéis me voy, así que los Trooperos me echarán de menos a mi y a mi megáfono. Pero no os vengais abajo compañeiros!! Cuando canteis "tú tenías mucha razón" tomaros los chupitos pensando en que yo os apoyaré desde la distancia. Abur Trooperos!!!!

What a dino!!!!!

Researchers on Thursday announced the discovery of the remains of a short-necked plesiosaur, a prehistoric marine reptile the size of a bus, that they believe is the first complete skeleton ever found.
The 150-million-year-old remains of the 33-foot ocean going predator were found in August on the remote Svalbard Islands of the Arctic, the University of Oslo announced.
Fragments of plesiosaur have been found elsewhere, including in England, Russia, and Argentina, but researcher Joern Harald Hurum said the partially fossilized Svalbard find appeared to be the first whole example.

Professor JOrn Hurum from the National History Museum in Oslo said the voracious plesiosaurs were like the Tyrannosaurus rex of the oceans, "except its head is much bigger. About 2 meters [6.5 feet] long, compared to about 1.6 meters [5.25 feet] for Tyrannosaurus rex."

The university's Natural History Museum said the reptile was "as long as a bus, with teeth larger than cucumbers ... in a head that could swallow an adult human whole.

They had sharp teeth and snapping jaws, which set a deadly trap for small aquatic animals.
Plesiosaurs were thought to have caught their prey by lashing out with their long necks and then snatching at victims with sharp teeth.
They were thought to be hunters of fish, squid and other free-swimming prey; but recent research has also indicated they would feed on bottom-dwelling animals such as clams and snails, too.

Vuelta al mundo.

¿ A quién no le gustaría dar la vuelta al mundo, conocer nuevos paises y culturas, encontrar gente nueva y quizas a uno mismo? Pues eso es lo que está haciendo Pak Muñoz Moya, un madrileño de 29 años. Arremecajo na vaca!!

Que bonita cajo en dios!!!!

Pois xa está. A vaca cajou e non lle costou moito. Estes de Amoeiro teñen boas ideas. Os tios recaudaron 60.000 euros. Eso sí. O Touriño levou 6.000 eurasos a modo de propina pecuniaria por faser un casino nun campo de futbol. A parsela estaba dividida e as rifas vendidas. Todas. Soamentes faltaba que o rumiante animal soltara lastre. E arremecajo en diola se soltou....en des minutos. Des minutos tardou en cajar en catro parselas distintas. Despois, un fulano dunha empresa de Plasencia rexistrou as coordenadas para que un jps rexistrara as coordenadas exactas nas que caera a bendita mer...bosta. Ajora temos que dicirlle a Lendoiro que divida en parcelas Riasor e que bote vacas a cajar.

Hollywood.

Pues parece que uno de los carteles más emblemáticos del mundo podría tener los días contados. El Cartel está, como sabéis, en Los Ángeles, en el parque Griffith y dentro del Monte Lee. Los terrenos donde está pertenecen a una compañía de inversiones llamada Fox River Land Company que se los compró a los herederos de Howard Hughes por 1.7 millones de dólares en 2002 y ahora pretende vender una parcela de 56 hectáreas de suelo por 20 millones. Vamos, un negocio.

Inicialmente fue levantado como Hollywoodland en 1923 y era la valla publicitaria de una una urbanización que finalmente se frustró. El cartel era periódicamente reparado y durante los años treinta estaba iluminado por unas 4.000 bombillas. Fue en 1949 cuando las autoridades locales decidieron retirar la iluminación y las 4 últimas letras (land). En 1973, el letrero fue declarado monumento cultural e histórico pero durante los últimos años las autoridades lo han dejado de lado y los desperfectos son bastante visibles. Alice Cooper (Poison) y otros famosillos se movieron para intentar que el cartel no cayera en el mayor de los deterioros las letras de madera fueron sustituidas por otras más consistentes.

Ahora se enfrenta a la fuerza de las promotoras...aguantará....?

Estambul.

Bulliciosa, antigua, majestuosa, palaciega, maravillosa...Cualquier adjetivo que esteis pensando es aplicable a esta hermosa ciudad situada entre dos continentes. Capital del Imperio Romano de Oriente y posteriormete del Imperio Otómano, conserva las raices de ambas culturas intactas.

Desde la antigua Catedral de Santa Sofía, hoy llamada Aya sofiya y convertida en Mezquita, pasando por sus antiguos mercados con productos traídos de todo oriente, su gente y como no....sus románticos atardeceres en el Bósforo.

Estambul es sin duda una de las ciudades más bellas del mundo donde todo nos llama la atención ya que el choque de culturas no es tal choque sino una unión.

Este mes la revista Lonely Planet esta dedicada a esta ciudad a caballo entre dos continentes. Nos ofrece una aproximación a lo que el viajero se encontrará. Yo recomiendo ver este país y ciudad sin ningún prejuicio ya que los miedos que tenemos cuando visitamos algo que no conocemos son normales y útiles a la vez porque muchas veces es el mismo miedo el que nos empuja a descubrir lugares que de otra no llegaríamos a ver.

Tiburón!!

Como sabéis los tiburones no son animales demasiado peligrosos a no ser que te confundan con otro animal...o tengan el día de hambre. Pues la semana pasada un tiburón blanco de unos 10 metros atacó a un equipo de rescate del USCG en la bahía de San Francisco. La foto es impresionante ya que el gran blanco saltó del agua para intentar coger al submarinista que intentaba escapar subiendo por la escalerilla del helicóptero. Finalmente consiguió salvar la vida por los pelos.

A ver cuando nos encontramos uno de estos buceando por la bahía de Coruña!!!! Ojalá!!!

Arctic Monkeys Awarded.

Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and Take That shared the honours at last night’s (February 20) Brit Awards.The bands picked up two awards each at the ceremony held in Earls Court in London.Arctic Monkeys´ repeated their 2007 record picking up Best British Band and the evening’s big prize, Best British Album again. It was the first time the band had ever attended the ceremony, despite winning awards for the past two years, and they certainly made an impression on their debut with all four Arctic Monkeys donning tweeds and flat caps to drunkenly pick up their awards dressed like extras from Emmerdale Farm.

Thank you everybody. We’re the Arctic Monkeys. "We are the most fantastic,” mumbled frontman Alex Turner, before blowing a hunting horn he had brought on stage into the microphone.

This year the Brits took place in Earls Court Auditorium next to the tube station where I lived...

Nagasaki Lantern Festival.

Every year, the city of Nagasaki celebrates the Chinese New Year with a spectacular array of bright and colourful lanterns. It began this year on February 7 and continues until the 21st.

The event recreates a ritual in the Edo Period when the goddess of safe voyage named Maso was carried from a Chinese ship that arrived in Nagasaki to Toji Temple.

Nagasaki, which for a couple of hundred years of the Tokugawa shogunate was one of the few entry points for trade in Japan (under the sakoku laws), shows its foreign influences all over, no more so than in its sizeable Chinatown, and the crowds throng around here, Chuo-Koen and Minato-Koen, where the main displays are.
On Sunday, an image of the goddess was laid on a portable shrine (mikoshi) and was carried from a facility at Kannai, Nagasaki, to Kofukuji Temple by participants dressed in flamboyant traditional Chinese outfits, while firecrackers were let off during the procession.

Another parade that will bring the goddess back on the same track will be held this coming Sunday.
The Nagasaki Lantern Festival will last until Feb. 21.

Pues ya está en nuestras manos. Dario, Orlando, Manule y yo estaremos el próximo día 31 de mayo en Madrid, en concreto en el auditorio John Lennon en Getafe que según mis últimas noticias es un recinto al aire libre para unas 40.000 personas. Además hay sorpresas porque junto a Metallica estarán Machine Head, Within Temptation, Soilwork y Queensryche y aún quedan grupos por confirmar. La historia comienza a las 4 de la tarde por cierto.

Lenny Kravitz en Vigo.

El rock más setentero vuelve de la mano de Lenny Kravitz. El chaval inicia su gira europea llamada "Love Revolution" en la ciudad de Olívica. El concierto tendrá lugar en el Instituto Ferial, que no tengo ni idea donde está. El precio de las entradas y donde se venderán aún no se sabe pero estaré atento. El día del concierto es el 29 de mayo. Si!! y el día siguiente estaremos en Madrid para ver a "rage against the machine" y el sábado a Metallica.

Depor veteranos.

Pues ayer fue el gran día. El día en que la gloria volvió a Riazor. Con Fran ejerciendo como gran Capitán, el Depor se impuso a un luchador Barça con un Luís Milla a la cabeza. El resultado final fue de 7-5 y hay que destacar la figura de Manuel que el solito metió tres de los goles del Depor. El próximo partido del Deportivo será en Ferrol iniciativa ante la cual la peña "The Trooper" está totalmente en contra porque supone sacar al equipo de la ciudad, precisamente, fuera de la ciudad. Tengamos en cuenta que ayer asistieron unos seis mil espectadores al partido. Imaginaros con Bebeto, Djalma o Mauro....en Ferrol??!!

Decir también que el mundo debe estar próximo a su fin porque Saray nos deleito con su presencia en un recinto deportivo y hasta aplaudió en alguna ocasión aislada. También anunciar que tenemos una troopera nueva en la peña. No es otra que Marta que no paró paró de aportar sus valiosos comentarios durante todo el partido como "David, tengo sed"; "David, cógeme en el colo"; "David, el señor negro quién es?".

El 22 de mayo se entrena la cuarta parte de Indiana Jones "Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the skull". Pues ya me he papado este tochazo de libro en un tiempo record y os voy a dejar mis impresiones sobre él. Pero antes la sinopsis.

" Con Un mundo sin fin regresamos a Kingsbridge, pero 153 años después de la construcción de la catedral gótica de Tom builder.El primer día de noviembre de 1327 cuatro niños escapan de la catedral de Kingsbridge para jugar en un bosque prohibido. Son, Gwenda, hija de un ladrón, Caris, una niña excepcional que quiere ser doctora y los hermanos Merthin y Ralph, el primero un genio con la cabeza llena de inventos y el segundo un tirano, cruel y vengativo. Allí en el bosque serán testigos de una pelea entre un caballero y dos soldados. Los soldados mueren y el caballero entierra un documento antes de ingresar en el monasterio de Kingsbridge para convertirse en monje el resto de su vida. El contenido de este documento secreto jugará un papel importante en varios momentos de la novela. No cabe duda que Ken Follet es un maestro en su campo. Me explico. La característica fundamental de esta obra es el ritmo narrativo. Es rápido y no da un sólo respiro al lector ya que la solución a a la infinidad de tramas y problemas que surgen, están a vuelta de hoja. Es muy sencillo. Se trata de una sucesión de acciones que ocurren consecutivamente a lo largo del libro y tú estas deseando pasar de página. El libro engancha, eso es cierto pero para mi no fue lo más importante.

Este tio sabe como construir un personaje y los dos pilares que soportan el libro son , sin duda alguna Caris y Gwenda. Caris es una mujer que desde el principio es una inadaptada dentro de su época. Quiere ser comerciante como su padre, aborta, es escéptica con respecto a la iglesia, no quiere verse sometida al yugo del matrimonio con otro hombre, lucha contra todo lo que suponga un obstáculo....

Gwenda a pesar de ser pobre la mayoría de su vida y ser una sierva de un señor feudal consigue sus objetivos a base de persistencia y una lucha enconada por todo lo que quiere.

El libro es una telenovela medieval. Pero una telenovela que te engancha desde el principio. Os aseguro que yo no me papo 1200 páginas por amor al arte, pero este libro ha conseguido su propósito. Entretenerme.

Long time ago, I still was at school, I was completely shocked when I watched one of my nowadays favourite movies "Apocalypse now" by Coppola. It´s an amazing movie based on the book "Heart of darkness" by John Conrad. This movie contains one of my preferred cinema scenes which is the beggining of the movie with the "hueys", the fan and Martin Sheen lieing in a bed with alcohol and a gun on the table..and "The end" in the background. Año nuevo Chino.

Hoy es año nuevo en China y supongo que os preguntareis...¿qué año?. Pues los chinos celebran hoy el 4706.

En el Día de Año Nuevo, tiene lugar una antigua costumbre llamada Hong Bao (paquete rojo). Los matrimonios entregan a niños y adultos solteros "dinero afortunado" en sobres rojos. Luego, la familia va de puerta en puerta para saludar primero a sus familiares y luego a sus vecinos. Como dice el dicho occidental "lo pasado, pasado", los rencores se dejan de lado fácilmente durante el Año Nuevo Chino. El decimoquinto y último día del Año Nuevo está marcado por el Festival de los Faroles, que es una celebración con cantos y danzas, además de desfiles de faroles con niños.

Este es el año de la rata(Shu) así que esperemos que nos sea un augurio de esa buena suerte en la que tanto creen los chinos.

Comunicado oficial.

Como sabeis, el próximo sábado a las 20.00 el Deportivo se juega un partido fundamental contra en Getafe en el estadio de Riazor. La peña "The Trooper" comenzará la pertinente reunión a primera hora de la mañana para discutir el programa de actos a seguir mientras se toman unos vermus, cervezas, copas, fangelicos, pipermins y demás.

Yo no podré asistir a tan señalado acto ya que la montaña me llama y la cabra tira al monte.

Me gustaría expresar desde aquí mi total adhesión a cualquier tipo de festejo que se realice y también decirós que el próximo partido estaremos PRESENTES mi megáfono y yo.

Cacería Fructífera.

Habiéndose establecido una cacería para el pasado lunes 4 de febrero los resultados no han podido ser mejores. Los bravos cazadores se prepararon concienzudamente durante horas para enfrentarse al peligroso y feo bicho. Con las armas perfectamente engrasadas, los prismáticos regulados y los cuchillos afilados la cacería comenzó en la calle de la barrera. El astuto animal se mantuvo a una distancia considerable de los cazadores hasta que fue encontrado saciando su abundante sed.

Una vez avistado, los cazadores se acercaron sigilosamente tratando de no asustar al peludo mamífero. Avalanzándose sobre este fiero animal los cazadores después de una dura y ardua lucha consiguieron inmovilizarlo a pesar de que el el lobito no deseaba parar de beber.

Después de duras discusiones se llego a la conclusión de que era mejor seguir el ejemplo del lobo y saciar la sed en compañía de tan noble animal.

Shrove Tuesday

In the UK, there´s the tradition of making and eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, which falls between 2 February and 9 March, depending on the date for Easter. Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday to use its correct title, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent - the 40 days leading up to Easter - was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday Christians went to confession and were "shriven" (absolved from their sins).

The best place to enjoy pancake day in London is Spitalfiedls Market, just next to the "Ten Bells" where Jack "the ripper" chose some of his victims.

You just need a frying pan, a funny costume and pancakes apart from being fast as well ´cause the most important pancake race takes place in this beautiful market.

It´s necessary a team of four "athletes" who have to run from one from one place to another, flipping the pancake successfully a few times on the way.

So, if you think you are skillful enough try!!!!

Besides, pancakes are provided!!!

Taiko

El domingo 24 de este mes se presenta en el coliseum el espectáculo del grupo japonés Tao. Esta gente presenta un show de percusión con el tambor tradicional japonés conocido como "Taiko" o Wadaiko".

Estos tambores pueden llegar a pesar 500 o 600 kg. Suelen tener doble cuero, es decir, aparte del cuero estirado de la caja, tienen otro más dentro de la misma. El "taiko" o "Wadaiko" se utilizan desde tiempos ancestrales para cermonias sintoistas y budistas y también eran utilizados por los samurais antes de la batalla para asustar a sus enemigos.

Los amantes de la cultura japonesa estamos otra vez de suerte así que no os lo perdais.

Depor Veteranos.

Atención "Trooperos". El próximo día 15 de Febrero, en concreto un viernes, el Deportivo de veteranos juega su primer partido en A Coruña. El partido se disputará a las 20.00 horas en el Pabellón de los deportes de Riazor. El rival será el Barcelona que presentó en su primer partido un equipo en el que destacan Luís Enrique, Ferrer o Sergi.

Aún no está confirmada su asistencia pero Bebeto, Mauro Silva y Djalminha podrían hacer acto de presencia para defender los colores del tres veces campeón de Copa, tres Supercopas y una Liga.

El torneo lo encabeza el Real Madrid con 6 puntos y con un partido más que el Depor.

Os recuerdo que en el primer partido el Depor ganó por un contundente 6 - 9 al Athletic de Bilbao.

No os cuento nada si juegan los mencionados arriba.....

Como el partido es a las 20.00 habrá que tomar las pertinentes pintas de cerveza antes del mismo.
