April fool´s day.

U wanna know more about british traditions?
Arsenal signs Gerrard!!!! Edward is gonna be king.............and Camilla queeeeeennnnn aghhhh!!
This is Aprlis fool´s!!!. Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. There really wasn't a "first April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring.
The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to JanHowever, communications being what they were in the days when news traveled by foot, many people did not receive the news for several years. Others, the more obstinate crowd, refused to accept the new calendar and continued to celebrate the new year on April 1. These backward folk were labeled as "fools" by the general populace. They were subject to some ridicule, and were often sent on "fools errands" or were made the butt of other practical jokes.
This harassment evolved, over time, into a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April. The tradition eventually spread to England and Scotland in the eighteenth century. It was later introduced to the American colonies of both the English and French. April Fool's Day thus developed into an international fun fest, so to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families.
In Scotland, for example, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance.
Mexico's counterpart of April Fool's Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery.
Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoe's untied!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"
Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fool's Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.
April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

New releases.

Morrisey : "Years of refusal"

After years of rumbling and hate "he" is back. And now, there's Years of Refusal, on which normal service is resumed. Love never comes or doesn't exist; depression and suicide get a song each; the legal profession cops it in the neck yet again. The deftness and subtlety of its predecessor's sound has been stamped out. Morrissey's backing band, hardly renowned for their lightness of touch at the best of times, seem more stodgy and leaden than ever: the bass is distorted, the drums thud grimly along at mid-tempo, and Ringleader of the Tormentors' beautiful orchestrations have been elbowed out.No more comments. It´s worth anyway.

The Prodigy: "Invaders must die".

This is Techno- Punk. The Prodigy - are back to take off your head, and transport your body to a claustrophobic dance floor before catapulting you into a gurning oblivion. After the underwhelming Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned, ringleader Liam Howlett has tracked back to the smash rave crossover of Jilted Generation and mashed up vintage polysynth lines with broken guitars and a scattering of whirlwind beats; mostly repeating his recipe for success.

No line on the horizon.

I would like to publish an interview to Hiroshi Sugimoto taken from the "Japan Times".

By EDAN CORKILL
Staff writer
Just two minutes into an interview with artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, it became clear why the famously discreet 61-year-old had agreed to talk about rock band U2's use of one of his photographs on the cover of their latest album, "No Line on the Horizon."
Primal: The cover of U2's new album, "No Line on the Horizon," features a photograph by Hiroshi Sugimoto

window.google_render_ad();
"The first thing I want you to let people know," he said, seated in an office at Ginza's Gallery Koyanagi, "is there is no commercial aspect to my relation with U2. No cash is involved."
No cash? Sugimoto's 1993 image of the Boden Sea at Uttwil adorns not only the cover of the album that debuted this month at No. 1 in almost 30 countries, but is also plastered over buses, taxis and TV ads worldwide as part of a multimillion dollar advertising blitz. The commercial connection had seemed so obvious that many assumed Sugimoto had sold out.
"People thought that I was in some sort of financial trouble," chuckled Sugimoto, who has always had a reputation for refusing requests to use his work in merchandise or advertising.
Others suggested he'd been corrupted by the megarich U2. According to The Guardian's Web site, electronic-music artist Taylor Deupree, who created a CD with Richard Chartier for a Sugimoto retrospective at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. in 2006, dismissed the U2 cover saying that for Bono and crew, "it's simply a phone call and a check."
Deupree also accused the band of copying the design of their album. Both covers use the same "Boden Sea" image (which was actually taken at Lake Constance in Switzerland and is just one of over 200 photographs that make up the artist's "Seascapes" series).
Apparently Deupree is wrong on both counts. Noting that the choice of the same photograph was just a "coincidence," Sugimoto explained that he was first introduced to Bono during a visit with an art collector in France about four years ago.
"I was taken by private jet to this beautiful villa in Nice," he explained. "When we got there, this guy, rather short — OK, my size — was welcoming me. I thought, 'He looks familiar.' " Although not impartial to rock music, Sugimoto wasn't really familiar with U2's work. "I was part of the Beatles generation," he said. "I still have Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' playing in my car!"
Bono confessed that he loved Sugimoto's seascape photographs and began quizzing the artist about the work.
"He started taking notes as I talked," Sugimoto recalled. Those notes became the foundation for the new album's title track. Last year, during a visit to Dublin, Sugimoto heard the first demo tape, and a few months later was told by Bono that U2 wanted to use the Boden Sea image on the album jacket.
"I said, 'Are you sure? If you use it you won't be able to put anything on top of it, not even the U2 name," the artist remembered.
He was surprised when Bono strongly agreed. Rolling Stone is now calling the text-free jacket "an early front runner for album cover of the year." (The cover also features an equal sign, but it is attached to the plastic wrapper, so it disappears once opened it.) Then came talk of money.
"I gave myself just a second to think about it," Sugimoto recalled, "and I said 'How about a Stone Age deal — no cash?' "
Bono agreed on an "artist-to-artist" barter whereby Sugimoto could use the "No Line on the Horizon" song in any project he wanted in the future. Sugimoto says he still hasn't made up his mind about how to use the song — which he says he likes, but liked even better in its "more hard rock" demo stage.
"Maybe I'll use it in some video-art project, or charity project," he said. Is he happy with the way the album cover looks? "The boxed editions of the album are printed well," he noted. But, he was resigned to the impossibility of proper quality control when they "print them all over the world."
Still, Sugimoto is satisfied that his photographs have struck a chord with so many people.
"That's the effect of seascapes," he said, before explaining that a view of a boatless ocean is one of the only things left in the world that we can experience in the same way that our primitive ancestors would have experienced millenniums ago. "The works are really connected to the very deep roots of the human mind," he said. "Even to the minds of musicians who have reached the pinnacle of success."

The Shinjuku incident.

The Hong Kong official site for Derek Yee's upcoming The Shinjuku Incident has been up for sometime now, with a April 2 release coming fast. Today I would like to present the Japanese official site which is now up at the moment.

Oxford - Cambridge.

On 29th, England's most historic universities square off in this rowing race which inaugurates the summer season in London. This is the 155th annual Boat Race and Cambridge currently lead by 79-74 (there was a controversial dead heat in 1877), though Oxford won comfortably in 2008. While the result means little to most Londoners, it's a spectacular display of strength and teamwork, and around a quarter of a million fans line the banks of the river to roar their encouragement. There's a great view - and some great pubs - on the north side of the Thames before Hammersmith Bridge. South Londoners might like to watch from or near Putney Bridge, where the big screen on the opposite bank allows spectators to monitor the race as it heads its way around the bend. Alternatively, head through Bishop's Park and behind the South Stand of Fulham football ground you'll find food stalls, attractions and a 500-capacity beer tent. Je, je!!

Abdominazer.

Paris Hilton?

Fall Out Boy.

I recognize this is a strange band. It was a nice surprise and some fresh air is always wellcome.

How would I define these guys?. Hard job. Mixture of rock, pop and punk. It depends on the song. You´ll find a little of them on each song. For my metal friends, forget about this band. Rest of the world, try it.

Fall out boy was formed in Wilmette , Illinois in 2001.The band consists of Patrick Stump (vocals and guitar), Joe Trohman (guitar and vocals), Pete Wentz (bass guitar and vocals), and Andy Hurley (drums and percussion).

Name?. After a show, they asked the audience to give them a name. One audience member suggested "Fallout Boy", a reference to the sidekick of the character Radioactive Man from The Simpsons. On 25th of January 2009, Fall Out Boy would play the theme ending on The Simpsons.

With Pete Wentz as the band's primary lyricist, and Patrick Stump the primary composer, Fall Out Boy reached mainstream success with its first major label album on May 3, 2005, From Under the Cork Tree, whch debuted on the Billboard 200 at #9, selling over 68,000 copies in its first week. The album achieved double platinum status after selling more than 2.5 million albums in the United States alone.

In early 2007, the band released its second major label album, Infinity on High. The album had a successful debut week, selling 260,000 copies and reaching number one on the Billboard 200. This charting was spurred by the single This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race, which reached number two in the U.S. and U.K.
A viral campaign was launched by Pete Wentz on August 18, 2008 to promote what is now known to be the band's fifth studio album Folie a Deux.

Now the streets have name.

Where the streets have no what......???!! Now they have and in an area I know perfectly!!!! Next to my lovely NY ....bed

On Tuesday New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg temporarily renamed a Manhattan street in their honor.
To celebrate the release of the band's 12th studio album and their appearance every night this week on CBS's "The Late Show with David Letterman," part of 53rd street in Midtown Manhattan -- where Letterman films -- was renamed U2 Way. (Photo Reuters)

The Beatles had Penny Lane, Elvis lived on the end of Lonely Street," U2 singer Bono told reporters and fans on the corner of Broadway and 53rd Street.
"We're here somewhere between 10th Avenue and funky, funky Broadway, somewhere south of Duke Ellington Way and north of Joey Ramone Place we find ourselves ... where the streets have no name," he said.
The renaming of the block of 53rd Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue will last one week, Bloomberg said.
"It's a beautiful day, to quote a famous Irish rock band," Bloomberg said. "Everyone in this city, including me, considers these four Dubliners honorary New Yorkers."
